record breaking twilight!

Saturday 21 September - the last day of summer - and what a day we had for the running of the annual CMP Twilight Runway Challenge!

After a grumbling, threatening, thundery morning, the clouds blew away and the sun shone gloriously for the hundreds of people gathered at Blackbushe Airport for this, our 14th spectacular Twilight.

Nearly 1,000 entered, more than in any previous Twilight since it began in 2010 when around 20 brave souls had navigated the runway at Farnborough. As is now usual for this extraordinary event, participants ran, walked, scooted, cycled, danced, wheeled and, in what has lately become a Twilight tradition, hula-hooped their ways around the circuit!

For many of the happy participants, this was a colourful celebration drawing attention to so many worthy causes whilst also raising tens of thousands of pounds. This year, CMP worked with 44 charity partners but many individual participants also raised money for other good causes. Donations continue to pour in, but CMP estimate that around £50,000 was generated at TRC14: an incredible achievement.

This unique community, family-friendly event could not happen without the generous support of our sponsors and the small army of volunteers. A huge shout-out to:

  • Chris Gazzard and the super team from our hosts Blackbushe Airport

  • AJ Products

  • Amazon Filters

  • KJM Salons

  • The Village Hotel, Farnborough

  • Soap20 and Source Supplies

  • Fluor

  • Flight Safety International

  • Herrington Carmichael, Solicitors

  • 360 Mortgages

Paul Edwards, Chair of CMP, taking part in his umpteenth Twilight, spoke warmly about Saturday's event before undertaking a 5k circuit:

'Twilight has grown and grown over the years to become this lively, fantastic occasion. Great to see our sponsors here, lots of stalls, the food, face painting, bungee jumping, the music - there's a real carnival buzz at Blackbushe. And it's all for such good causes!'

Anthea Rastall, who has the tough job of pulling Twilight together for CMP each year, was understandably delighted by the success of TRC14:

'I'm genuinely blown away by the support we've received. Thanks to the many people - too many to name but each of you has been brilliant - for helping make this work so well. And of course, thanks to all the wonderful participants who sign up, many year after year, and bring the day to life! It just shows the commitment that's out there in the community.

See you all next year for TRC15!'

Indeed - save the date: 20 September 2025.

Let's see if together we can make TRC15 even bigger and better than this year's wonderful event!
