Upcoming Events & Closures

We would like to share with you some upcoming events at Blackbushe, and inform you of their impact on aerodrome availability.

SAT 15 AUG 2020

RED ARROWS FLYPAST

This Saturday, the Red Arrows will be making flypasts of sites in Edinburgh, Belfast, Cardiff, and London to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VJ Day.  En route from Cardiff to London, they will be transiting the Blackbushe ATZ from West to East at approximately 1625z (1725 local).  To accommodate their flight we will be closing the aerodrome, and requiring all aircraft land or vacate the ATZ from 1615z - 1635z  If you are operating in the local area, please be aware of their presence and ensure you are working Farnborough LARS to receive any relevant traffic information.

For non-fliers, they will likely be visible from most of Yateley and certainly on the common. Whilst you may view from the car park also, please bear in mind social distancing and do not gather on the airport site, make use of the expanse of the common to ensure you are socially distanced.

As always, these flypasts are subject to weather and the operational requirements of the Red Arrows.

SAT 26 SEP 2020

TWILIGHT RUNWAY CHALLENGE

We are pleased to be hosting the Twilight Runway Challenge which is organised by the Community Matters Partnership Project (CMPP).  We will be welcoming runners, walkers, cyclists, and scooters onto the runways and taxiways to take on 3K, 5K, and 10K routes.  Participants can support their own charities, and groups from Aerobility, Mustard Seed, The Shorts Foundation, Home-Start Hampshire, Phyllis Tuckwell, Frimley Health Charity, and Harry's Hat will be raising money for these great causes.

To accommodate, we will be closing the airport at 1500z (1600L) on Saturday 26th September.  All aircraft must be landed by this time, and there will be no OOH movements.  We will reopen at 0800z (0900L) on Sunday 27th September to allow us to conduct FOD checks and sweeping in the morning light.

SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER

NHS BLACKBUSHE FLU VACCINATION CENTRE

This autumn, local NHS GP surgeries are having to manage a larger than usual flu vaccination programme whilst remaining prepared against the threat of a second-wave of COVID-19.  With that in mind, they will be opening a drive-through flu vaccination centre in our car park.  Eligible patients will be able to drive in, remain in their vehicles, and receive their vaccination through their car window.  This keeps vulnerable members of society away from GP surgeries which may have coronavirus patients.

The car park area behind the terminal building will be unavailable for a minimum period of 8 weeks, potentially longer depending on uptake of the vaccination.  It's about 1/3 of our marked bays.  Airport staff will be parking cars airside, and we will assist with parking at really busy periods. Usually the car park is at least 1/3 empty.

There will be no impact on aerodrome operating hours during this time.
